Donation Drives
One of our biggest focuses is direct tangible aid for refugees within our area. Oftentimes, daily resources such as clothing, food, or other amenities are scarce for refugees; our donation drives can involve individuals from all over the D.C metro area and are vital to provide direct support for member of our community.
Birthday Parties
At Community First, we believe every child deserves to feel celebrated. Many refugee families in the DMV area face financial and emotional challenges that can make something as simple as a birthday party feel out of reach. We bring joy and community to these children by hosting birthday celebrations filled with fun, friendship, and hope, reminding them that they are valued and not alone.
Community Engagement
Building stronger communities starts with connection. At Community First, we create opportunities for neighbors, volunteers, and refugee families in the DMV area to come together, share experiences, and support one another. Through events, service projects, and meaningful conversations, we foster belonging and remind everyone that community is built by showing up for each other.
Hygiene Care Kits
Access to basic hygiene items is something many of us take for granted, but for refugee families starting over in the DMV area, these essentials can make a world of difference. Through our Hygiene Care Kits project, Community First provides families with everyday necessities like soap, toothpaste, and other personal care items that support dignity and well-being. To fund this effort, we partner with local restaurants to host Spirit Night fundraisers, where a portion of proceeds goes directly toward creating and distributing these kits. By dining out and showing up, our community helps make sure every family has what they need to feel cared for.
